T. Wilen is a CAD Technician with many years of experience in creating detailed, precise and highly technical drawings using AutoCAD. He has worked extensively with AutoCAD and EaglePoint and is also skilled in Revit Structure and Civil 3D. Mr. Wilen oversaw the drafting in an 8-person office as well as some design and some construction activities. He has significant experience in the commercial (medical) architecture field.

J. Earnest has developed detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools and controls, using Computer-Assisted Drafting (CAD). V. Parquette is currently an independent Design Consultant, a role he has performed since 2002. He was previously the Engineering Manager at a leading electronic controls company. Mr. Parquette oversaw all engineering activities for the company and managed a team of engineers. Mr. Parquette started his career as an Application Engineer, responsible for tool and die design and also research and development.

S. Schnee consults and designs for other companies that are involved with standard injection molding, high cavitation, and ultra-precision applications including micro-molding. Mr. Schnee has over 20 years in processing, product design and tooling design for many different types of injection molding processes including multi-component, LIM, MIM and CIM. He has hands-on experience with Process Engineering, Tooling Design and Project Management and utilizing FEA software (Sigma-Soft). Shawn holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Additionally, Shawn holds RJG Master Molder certificates for Scientific Injection molding principles and applications.

R. Wright is an independent CAD consultant, and is an expert in the area of computer aided drafting. He began as a draftsman and construction administrator.

Interview with Mr. R. Wright

1. What kinds of clients do you serve?

   I serve clients who are involved in residential and commercial projects.

2. What was the most interesting CAD project that you ever worked on? What made it interesting?
   What challenges did you face?

   The most interesting projects were a Veterinarian Clinic and Refurbishing a 100 year old elementary school. I had faced numerous design changes with the veterinarian clinic and with the elementary school, and had some challenges in retrofitting 100 year construction techniques.

3. Of the software tools that you use, which is your favorite and why?

   I have AutoCAD and Revit skills. Revit is my favorite software design tool because it incorporates the most information in a building model. It allows 2D, 3D and rendering.

4. What trends are you observing in the market for CAD services? How have these trends affected you, and how are you responding to them?

   I am observing a downward turn in the amount of work for CAD designers.

5. What do you like about working as an interim CAD draftsman or external CAD consultant working on a time-bound project?

   I like working as an interim CAD draftsman or as a consultant, because I can work well in an office environment or alone as a consultant.

6. Have you ever provided CAD consulting services remotely, either via phone, the Web or email?
   Do you use any screen sharing tools (like Webex, Skype, or GoToMeeting), and are they effective?
   What kinds of questions and problems could you tackle remotely?
   Are there any issues that you feel are better handled face-to-face?

   Yes, I have provided a number a CAD consulting services remotely by way of GoToMeeting, and there was no issue in the design process or project scope that could not be handled remotely.

C. Smith is a Senior Design Engineer. He has 10 years of everyday 3D modeling and design experience and currently does contract design work for various companies and individuals in aerospace, mechanical and architectural fields. He has a Design Engineering degree from ITT Tech.

E. Barnes is a product and design draftsman and an expert in AutoCAD, ProE and Solidworks. He specializes in the reworking of designs to update them to current standards.

J. Szpak is an expert in the design and build of custom fixtures for CNC machining, welding, printing, assembly and many other uses. He has deep experience in the area of product design and development as well as design for manufacturing of aerospace, automotive and consumer good. He can work with nearly all CAD formats including Autocad, Solidworks, Unigraphics and Pro Engineer.

D. Coates is a design consultant in the ara of precision plastic injection molded products for the following kinds of customers: automotive, electronic, consumer, industrial and medical. He is an expert in the area of tool and customer product re-design for manufacturing, material recommendations and cost reduction. He has 10 years experience working with Solidworks. Mr. Coates is a graduate of University of Massachusetts in Lowell where he received a BS in Plastics Engineering.

C. Dela is an expert in using AutoCAD in the area of HVAC, plumbing, water and fire protection (e.g. reticulation piping layout, infrastructure piping layout for an automated vacuum waste collection system). She has extensive experience in the area mechanical drawings for oil and gas clients, including preparing mechanical data sheet for refinery projects and the drawing/design of platforms for tanks and vessels.

S. Powell is an independent CAD drafter specializing in mechanical component and assembly drawings. He has experience in red line drawings as well as document changes. His most recent work experience involved creating drawings from samples, sketches, and verbal/written descriptions. He has worked extensively with artists/designers to create drawings for use in architectural and retail display.
