Interview with Mr. N. Felix

1. What kinds of clients do you serve?

   I serve many types of clients, including medical, consumer products, machinery and furniture.

2. What was the most interesting CAD project that you ever worked on? What made it interesting?
   What challenges did you face?

   I love working with medical devices and products because I know eventually it might save someones life.

3. Of the software tools that you use, which is your favorite and why?

   Autodesk Inventor, because it is easy to use and produces great quality work.

4. What trends are you observing in the market for CAD services?
   How have these trends affected you, and how are you responding to them?

   More and more, customers are looking for renderings of their products. The more realistic, the better. I took it upon myself to learn 3d rendering.

5. What do you like about working as an interim CAD draftsman or external CAD consultant working on a time-bound project?

   I get lost in all my projects and time just flies when I am working on a CAD project.

6. Have you ever provided CAD consulting services remotely, either via phone, the Web or email?
   Do you use any screen sharing tools (like Webex, Skype, or GoToMeeting), and are they effective?
   What kinds of questions and problems could you tackle remotely?
   Are there any issues that you feel are better handled face-to-face?

   I have had video conference calls with customers for clarifications.

Pop is an architect and has been working on CAD-based projects since 1999. She has been designing houses, offices, colleges and production houses. She has expertise in designing HVAC systems, heat and ac frames, sheet metal and enclosure framing.
She has been designing on AutoCAD since college and on ARCHICAD since 2009. She also uses SolidWorks for creating 3D models.
She connects with clients remotely through Skype and phone. She also provides consultation via face to face meetings when required.
Ms. C. Pop is an architect specializing in residential, multi housing, and industrial projects, as well as interior design. She is an expert in Archicad and Artlantis.

Dr. G. Cambiano is a Naval Architect, an ECDL CAD Instructor and (since 2000) an independent CAD consultant As a Naval Architect, he has been using AutoCAD exclusively since 1990. His main area of expertise is in CAD drafting for naval dockyards. As a teacher he has used all the AutoCAD versions since 1990. He uses also Rhinoceros, especially for 3D modeling. He is been a member of RINA, the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, since 1999.

D. Skenderovic is an expert in using Auto CAD, Revit Architecture, Rhinoceros 3D, 3D Studio MAX, Piranesi, Vue xStream and Photoshop. He has managed the detailing of a wide range of architectural projects, and has trained staff for using Revit Architecture, managed the transition from AutoCAD-based workflow to Revit BIM. He has modeled, textured, and rendered hi-res shots for many architectural project proposals. As a 3D modeler, he has prepared numerous renderings of buildings (e.g. churches, hotels) and furniture, and also has extensive experience in creating fly-through animations.

D. Deery has been working as a Draftsman/3D Modeller/CAD Trainer for 23 years. He has extensive experience in: 2D Drafting 3D Modelling BIM 3D Images 3D Animation, and has a multi-disciplinary background, working in areas such as Architecture, Civil Engineering (roads, light rail and heavy rail, drainage), Structural Engineering, Power & Electrical, Mechanical and landscaping. He has worked on many projects with both large and small firms throughout Ireland and the UK. Some of these firms include: Mott MacDonald Ove Arup & Partners, Amec Process & Energy, Muir International, and Balfour Beatty. He also provides 2D/3D training, CAD support and consultancy services.

V. Gradinaru is employed as Assistant Researcher at INMA Bucharest in 2009. She finished the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Faculty of Biotechnical Systems Engineering, studied in the field of environmental engineering and mechanics. She has experience in design using Autocad (5 years), AutoCAD Mechanical (3 years), Autodesk Inventor (4 years) SolidWorks (5 years).

A. Papadopoulos is currently an independent CAD consultant. He has worked on a wide range of engineering projects, using ProE (combined with external software such as Excel and Keyshot to increase productivity).

T. Makris is a product designer for playground equipment, sports facilities and sheet metal machining. He has designed numerous new products, mainly playground equipment, and is an expert in the programming of CNC wood machines (5-axis and 3-axis). He has also been active in education after having worked with an AutoDESK authorized training center, teaching engineers and students how to use programs such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor. He also provides sheet metal design and CNC programming for sheet metal manufacturing. Mr. Makris is a graduate of the Department of Industrial Design of the Technological Educational Institute of Western Macedonia. He also has a master’s degree in “Advanced Industrial Manufacturing Systems’ from Kingston University in partnership with the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus.

M. Theofilos is a Mechanical Engineer and an machinery safety consultant. He is a certified automotive safety inspector by the Greek ministry of Transportation. Mr. Theofilos has designed and manufactured several parts for the Hellenic Navy using 3D CAD software, reducing costs and delivery times. He is a member of an engineering team taking part in the Shell Eco Marathon in Europe with a prototype electric vehicle.

R. Beaumont has over eight years of experience developing building projects of all kinds, using AutoCAD (and other applications) to draw pipes, conduits, cables, lights, sprinklers, nozzles, etc. He is familiar with the CTE standards, NBE/CPI-96, CEPREVEN and REBT (Spanish norms) among others; for some projects he has also consulted the General Plan and ordinances to comply with municipal regulations. He studied Industrial Engineering (unfinished) while working in a patent and trademark office, where he began to draw technical plans. In 2003 he began working as a draftsman in IP-drawing plans for major shopping facilities e.g. IKEA, PCCITY. He later served as Head of a CAD department, coordinating the work of the department with engineers and architects.

S. Harsan is an expert in using Catia to create 3D models and renderings.

S. Kuprianoff is an architectural technician and a water pipeline & sewage systems design engineer. He has many years of experience in the planning of the internal and outward plumbing and sewage systems, concordance of a project with all engineering requirements (technical, government services and customer), and management of negotiations with architects, build designers and builders.
